Founded in 1925, Winn-Dixie employs more than 35,000 associates who serve customers in grocery stores, liquor stores and in-store pharmacies throughout the five southeastern states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi.


For Winn-Dixie,  our goal was to drive traffic into stores with an aim to see a lift in sales by leveraging our sports sponsorships at Alabama and LSU to increase the average basket, or spend, by consumers during each shopping trip.


The Ticket to the Game concept was born. The intention was to create a program that enticed consumers to shop at Winn-Dixie, because that is the only place to shop and get rewarded with free basketball and baseball tickets. If the consumer met the minimum purchase requirement in one transaction using their rewards card, they became eligible to redeem a code online to print their tickets at home. Promotional support included in-store signage, radio, in-game announcements, and social media.


Every ticket that was available for the promotion was redeemed by customers within just a few weeks. Data showed that Fans were 20% more likely than on-fans to shop at Winn-Dixie. Giving these folks a reason to shop with free tickets was a key component! This promotion has been active for basketball and baseball seasons for two years and we have rewarded our customers with thousands of tickets to LSU and Alabama basketball and baseball games, just for shopping at Winn-Dixie.
